First Day's at Barcelona

Que Tal?

I have been in this beautiful country of Spain for a week. I am quickly starting to love this place. If its from the "compressed" life style the Spanish people have to walking around to explore to this being my first time out of the continental United States. I am nervous with a hint of excitement for the new and unknown adventures ahead. My roomies are very cool we have some amazing meals ever night while polishing off two bottles of wine...well they do most of the work i just try and help them out a little bit!

The language barrier is a little hard to get passed, but the people are very nice and helpful. Today we went to the Edifici Forum building its structure is unique and beautiful. The facades are covered with a blue textured foam and the it reminds me of a tree. It has a massive base with holds the main stair cases and utility rooms, also, while you stand under this tree-like structure there are gaps in it where you could see straight through to the sky. This design caught my eye quickly because in sophomore Spring studio I created a 2 week children's school in which I designed a library that was shaped like a glass cases tree. The other students and I watched a short video about the cities architectural history.

Over the last dew days we have had so very cool city projects one consisting of getting dropped off at a random stop. We were told to walk around the city while only following what our senses tell use to do, so if you like it quite you would want to stay in the quiet alleys or if a smell grabs you and pulls you in a direction, then you follow it. Another won was where we were taken to a plaza by our teacher and told to go in a specific direction and we would have to paint on black paper our path. The goal of this was to walk in that direction until we got to a smaller plaza; this was designed to make us look at the city and to understand scaling a walk of the city with just your steps.

It's night time in this beautiful city of Barcelona and I have been in studio for lone enough. Goodnight Blog....till another time!!!
